  • Repairing "keyed" damage on a budget?

My '02 Tundra was keyed not too long ago, but I can't afford the $300+ estimate I get from shops for the repair, and would like advice on how to fix it myself if possible. Is my only option Scratch Fix 2n1 touch up paint? I had a Cadillac Fleetwood I tried Scratch Fix 2n1 on with, and I didn't like the outcome as the result looked very sloppy and "gummy". I understand I may be at fault as I used the supplied sandpaper and buffed the area with my hand, as I don't have a polisher nor the knowledge on using one, and I left behind a sloppy amount of putty.

I figured since the damage isn't that bad I could simply use a toothpick for the touch up? But for optimal results can you guys give me some advice? I'm on a $50 budget and found some what I believe to be decent polishers under my price range: Carrand 94000AS, Black & Decker WP900, and Roybi RB60K. So if a polisher is needed for a better result I wouldn't mind buying one of those.

    Thanks

The scratches can be felt with my fingertip, and can't be repaired using compound.

I think I know who did it, but have no proof. Crazy how expensive little damage can be to repair.

You need paint and body work. Nothing less can fix that . If 50 bux is your budget don't waste your time or effort making it look worse.

Just go out and buy a sharpe fill in the white and call it a day until you can save enough money to have that properly fixed.

I read that this paint is good. You can check it out. I'm not sure on the price.

just paint it with touch up and be done with it

You can't afford to fix it right
you don't know how to fix it right yourself
So just brush it on and pay someone someday to sand and buff it when you can afford it

But today you can at least cover it up for $40 bucks
