Yes, I would and that would be a better option in my opinion.

You could go with the orange pad and run it like a compound if you really needed it or with the white pad at a higher setting also.

M205 is very versatile that way and you will get a good finish in the end either way.

I would still go with M105 and just make fewer passes and it will polish the paint also, then follow up with UP.

Then 2 coats of NXT and the M26.

As a note if you had M205 you could have used that at a higher speed like M105 and it would likely have cleaned it up nicely then went straight to the LSP.

There very few light scratches so M105 might be overkill. The main problem i am correcting is cloudyness in the paint.
The paint looks dripping wet.*I am using UP with a wht LC pad. And these next steps are over kill but i need therapy.*Next i will use UP on LC finish pad, then glaze m7, then NXT and 2 coats of m26

You can get that same effect with M205 also.

As Mike said there is defiantly a difference in UP and M205 and I find it to be a rather large difference personally.

So as some say on the forums they are close etc, don't believe it because they really aren't.

I think UP might be a really good jeweling polish though....

Ultimate Polish is a very mild finishing polish so it may not be aggressive enough regardless which pad you pair it with, depending on the level of defect and the hardness of the paint. There are times when we see combinations of product and pad that don't seem to make much sense initially actually do a very good job in the end. Something like M205 isn't necessarily thought of as a cutting liquid, but paired with microfiber pads it can actually do a remarkable job of defect removal. Ultimate Polish is based on M205 but it has been significantly tweaked that we don't have the same confidence in it's cutting ability as we do with M205. In light of that, we'd probably not even try to use it for initial defect removal but instead go with Ultimate Compound, especially since you're working on a Corvette and they are indeed notorious for having pretty hard paint. So much so that they are one of the few cars we'll make such a broad comment about. Still, a test spot will tell you what you need to know, and regardless which product/pad combo mentioned in this discussion that you start with, you're not going to cause any problems.

I finally learned to jewel UP and getting the wet look i want... As a final before waxing i plan to use UP once more with a blue or red finish pad using the jeweling technique.

Do you have a link or more info re: your jeweling technique?

Yes i have used m105 and m205 previuosly using a pc7424. That was my first time using a DA. I didnt like my results as i didnt get the wet look i wanted.
I am now going back with UP and a white polish pad. I finally learned to jewel UP and getting the wet look i want. Yet there are a few defects i cannot remove which got me to thinking of using UP and an LC orange pad.
As a final before waxing i plan to use UP once more with a blue or red finish pad using the jeweling technique.

As a side note has anyone used wolf chem jeweler. I bought this on a bogo whim @ autogeek.

Vette's are known to have hard clear coat. You may be chasing imperfections (RIDS) that are deep in the clear that may not be able to be removed. You could try a test spot with UP on an orange pad and follow up with a white pad to see if you get good results. Then another test spot with UP on a white pad. Have you compounded the car?

As said above...least aggressive first method first.

It's always easier to 'go up' than having to redo any marring etc. the more aggressive method may have done.
