  • Compound On Textured Plastic

I know it has been addressed numerous times before but I would like to know what the best way is to get white compound residue off of black textured bed caps. I tried APC and a brush with very little luck, pretty much just got the thicker build up evened out with the rest. Thanks for the help with this beaten to death topic!

Magic eraser, peanut butter, #39... applying more compound, using a plastic safe wax sometimes....

Is magic eraser safe for clear coat? Never would have thought of that!

I didn't mean directly applied to clear coat, just maybe if some accidentally got on it. I would tape off the painted area to help prevent that though

This works very well..... Use a grease and tar remover (Poboys is one of my favs) with a microfiber hand-pad..... then, follow with a common detailer like Meguiars #34..... it works like a charm! I've done many Avalanche's bed covers with it, as well as door handles. Feel free to check out my site www.joscratch.com.

Would poor boy's bug squash be something I could use and then the quick detailer in the maroon bottle that comes with the clay kit?

Not really, you need the degreaser.... its the cleaner and degreaser, it will break down the old wax build-up without damaging the plastic. Do a small spotted area with the microfiber pad.
