This is no joke!!! I wash my car 3 times a week by hand ( it's a black 13 focus st ) and wax it with my da with Meg's 26 yellow wax after every wash. My car always looks fantastic and I'm going to keep it that way. The mail dude said I was going to wax the paint of the car. I've clayed the car every month and either polish with m205 if needed or just wax with 26. Yes I have a question lol. With winter around the corner I will not clay as often but will wash and wax 3 times a week. Will the yellow 26 wax build up over a 4 to 5 month period of time over the winter to create a barrier to keep road salt Olof or will the road salt eat through the wax if it's on there for 2 or 3 days?

Re: addicted to waxing !!!!
First off, welcome to MOL!
Second..... you're waxing your car 3 times a week???!!! While we love that you're buying enough of our product to actually do that, you really don't need to nor will you really gain anything by doing so. While you certainly aren't going to "wax the paint off your car", you aren't going to create an ever increasing film of wax that will give you any additional protection. M26 is a carnauba wax and by nature of that type of product you just can't "build up" more protection. You will probably be better served by moving to a fully synthetic product like our Ultimate Wax and cutting back on your wax applications to maybe once a month.
Our biggest concern here is all the extra touching of the paint that you're doing; the more you touch the paint the greater the chances of marring the finish. Of course, with clean pads and clean towels that shouldn't be an issue, but like we said, there's really nothing positive to be gained here. You might want to look into a product like Ultimate Wash & Wax Anywhere (or D115, the pro equivalent) or even try using Ultimate Quik Wax while you're drying the car to add some additional polymer protection.
As for protection against road salt in the winter, that's a tough one as road salt is highly corrosive and really tough on any wax or synthetic sealant. Your primary concern there should be washing that stuff off the car as soon as possible, and that's where using a spray wax like Ultimate Quik Wax in your process comes in really handy.Michael Stoops

Re: addicted to waxing !!!!
Another problem could happen . To much wax will totally seal the paint and not let it breath . Thus the paint solvents can't evaporate . This will over time cause the paint to crack . I have seen this issue a few times over the years . Once we had a guy wax his black mustang so often , that the paint reps from BASF could actually measure his wax with a mill gauge !

Re: addicted to waxing !!!!
Meguiar's will love you and your "enthusiasm" for waxing. Kidding aside, it is a bit wasteful, even when waxing with a spray wax, 3x a week or more is a bit too much. Don't make the mistake of thinking "If some is good, a lot is even better".. You may experience wax build up, you might see it as a slight dulling of your car's paint. It won't be to noticeable at first, but you may find that your Black car (safe to assume that it is real shiny and wet looking) has a sort of light, barely noticeable dulling or reduction in shine on your paint.
If you want to polish, I recommend M07 or Deep Crystal Pure Polish before applying your wax. You want deep black? Apply either of the 2 pure polishes before waxing.

Re: addicted to waxing !!!!
OP - you are the perfect candidate for a spray wax such as UQW / D156.
Even that would be a bit much 3 times a week, but traditional waxing 3 times a week is really overkill.Originally posted by BluelineI own a silver vehicle and a black vehicle owns me. The black one demands attention, washing, detailing, waxing and an occasional dinner out at a nice restaurant. The silver one demands nothing and it looks just fine. I think the black vehicle is taking advantage of me, and the silver car is more my style. We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

I appreciate all the responses. When I first got the car I used all the ultimate line of products. The ultimate line leaves everything nice and shiny. Then I tried the gold class line of products along with the high tech #26 wax and all I can say is wow on black paint. Deep gloss and bold looking is what I'm after. To me there is a big difference in appearance on black paint between the two product lines. Shiny and reflective with the ultimate line and deep glossy bold on the gold class line. It all depends on the look your after.
As for protection I think we all know the difference with that. I love taking care of my cars and don't mind spending time cleaning. Yeah I might run into a few scratches here and there by touching my car to much but they do come out.
On my wife's 2013 white escape I use the ultimate line.

Re: addicted to waxing !!!!
Mizzou, your observations of Ultimate vs Gold Class on black paint support what many, many people say about synthetics vs carnaubas. That tells us you've got a pretty good eye as not everyone can immediately distinguish between the two types. Using Gold Class on your black vehicle and Ultimate on the white one probably has a lot of people nodding their heads in agreement as they read your comments. We would be inclined to go that way too, if the primary goal is appearance.
In short: keep doing what you're doing! (you just don't have to do it that often!)Michael Stoops

Mr stoops and everyone at meguiars I can't thank u enough for making the car care products. The simplicity and quality that u put out make car enthusits like myself smile from ear to ear everytime we spend time with our cars applying meguiars products.
Btw. If u didn't make taking care of my car so simple I would only wax 1 time a month)
