After talking with Meg's CS Team and doing my own research, the QD has the perfect lubricity that is needed for claying. I'd go with that and you'll be very happy.
My bad. I wasn't suggesting to use soapy water, just responding to the previous email that some people on MOL have proclaimed its use, and my hunch is because it's cheaper. I use Final Inspection or diluted Last Touch personally. I'll try to be less cryptic next time.

Clay bars in my experience is good enough to remove those specks on paint. I've had different kinds of specks touch my car's paint, and claying allows me to remove them without much effort or damage to paint. I just work the clay longer, after claying, I check the results. I usually follow it up with a paint cleaner which I also work into paint for some time to ensure a smooth, clean surface ready for wax.

I use a non-meguiars clay bar and paint cleaner/cleaner wax (OK, I use Mothers clay kit), meg's smooth surface clay kit isn't as readily available but brand name aside, the principle is the same.

I used final inspection, a very good instant detailer and clay lube. As a quick detailer, it leaves a very smooth, slick surface. As a clay lube, it woks real well and is very economical in the long run.
