  • Serious Detailing For First Time

Greetings, I have some questions regarding detailing my 2013 Honda Accord Sport with Basque Red exterior that was purchased about a month ago. I washed it first with Meguiar's Utimate W & W. I purchased the Meguiar New Car Kit also. I was thinking that it may be too early to clay bar it since I haven't felt anything in the paint as of yet. It was sealed when it was being prepped for me to take possession of it. I have been reading a few posts and wanted to ask what step by step procedures I should take to maintain it in great condition. Historically, I've just been a wash and sometime wax owner but that has changed and I'm taking it seriously now. Thanx in advance for any and all assistance/advice!!

It's never to early to clay. Cars often sit outside for months in the sun and elements. Look in your drivers door for month and year of manufacture and that will give you a good idea how long it sat outside.

Along with the vehicle sitting outside it also travels from the plant by rail and truck talk about dirty places. Clay the car you will be surprised at what you just might find on the paint.

As for you question get yourself a good wash mitt, good drying waffle weave towel(s) two 5 gal buckets with grit guards and set of good mircrofiber towel for a quick detailer or spray wax. Most swirl marks come from the imporper washing and dry techniques and poor quality tools.

        I always like:

        1. Wash
        2. Clay
        3. cleaner/wax - ColorX, White Wax, etc..
        4. Wax - Ult. Wax

        5. Maintain - Ult. Quick Wax after future washes

for a fairly quick detail with good looks.
