  • How to remove enamel from car surface?

Hi all, I am stuck in a slightly terrible situation.

I just found out yesterday that there are 4 droplets of white enamel on the old 86 bimmer in the garage (black, e series, direct import from Germany). The droplets must have come from the gloves or the kneeling pad I was using when I was painting the porch.

Tried Finger nails, claybar, and the DA cutting pad. It didn't even chip.

Any suggestions or guidance on how to do this?

I am considering 3000 Grid Sandpaper... but want to keep that as a last hope because the paint is still amazingly shinny from 86....

well try clay, I doubt if it will work but give it a try.
Then dab some lacquer thinner on a towel and give it a rub.
if that doesn't work the chip at it with a razor blade. Tape off the spots and be very careful.
or you can sand. After sanding you'll have to get the sanding marks out and bring back that shine with a wool or the DAMF System (microfiber pads).
It is possible to remove this, but you'll have to try a few different things.

I am wondering if the thinner will harm the clearcoat that is on the car, do you know based on the year and make of the vehicle? The paint to my knowledge is original, never resprayed.

lacquer thinner is clear coat safe. you'll do more damage with the micro fiber then the thinner
