  • Finishing Polish

I`m new here but not to Meguiars been a user for decades...

I have 2 new cars both Honda Accords one pearl white and one light silver

The cars paints have no defects. I just want to make them glossier/ shinier.

I`ve purchased some Megs 205 but didn`t use it because I was afraid I would remove to much paint
and I have no experience applying it.

I just did one car with Collinite 845 and when comparing it to my other new car finished with NXT2.0
2 months ago the Collinite car is no glossier.

I want the paint to look glossier and I don`t want to remove paint, if I have to I only want to remove
    tha smallest amount

Years ago when I had my Mercedes cars I use Megs glaze and Megs #26 yellow wax and the cars always
looked perfect. but their paints were not clearcoated.

    Whats your suggestion. Thanks Jim

    Re: Finishing Polish

If you use M205 Ultra Finishing Polish with a finishing pad or soft foam applicator there won't be too much paint removal and gloss increase will be very noticeable. Another great gloss boosters are M07 Show Car Glaze and Ultimate Polish. As a protection I like Ultimate Paste Wax.

Thanks for the reply. The glaze I used on my Mercedes was 07 show car glaze, it`s been years ago and I forgot the name until you mentioned it and that was before UPW.

Do you know if the M07 Glaze has abrasives? all my Mercedes had non clearcoat paint and Mercedes put tons of paint on so but I can`t remember if it removed any paint at any rate it was of no consequence back then 20 yrs ago. but these clearcoats are thin now. and I don`t want to remove much if any.

The only thing that worries me is the 205 taking to much paint off but you feel if I use a finishing pad the paint removal will be minimal

Hey Greg! Good to see you online! Haven't heard from you in a while. I hope all is well with you.

As Greg pointed out, M205 with a black finishing pad will give your silver paint an extra pop. You shouldn't worry because M205 is pretty mild in the abrasiveness scale. You won't take off much paint.

        M07 doesn't have any abrasives - it's a pure polish.

I used M205 on my silver Accord and it came out stunning. Check out the thread I created and see it for yourself:

Thanks so much for you thread on your accord, it really supports doing my cars with the M205. Especially since I have 2 to do. Question you mention that after a week you applied AGHD wax could you tell me what wax that was...Thanks again that`s what I neeed to hear...Jim

AGHD = Autoglym High Definition Wax.

It's my pleasure. I hope my reply helps you polish your car with M205. You won't regret it.

Jim, I would do as others stated with 205 and a finishing pad for more gloss and then top with 845. NXT 2.0 contains light cleaners/abrasives and that is why it gave you more off a glossier shine than 845, 845 is a hybrid wax/sealant. 845 will outlast NXT 2.0 by miles.

Ya, that`s why I used 845 because of the longevity it`s great stuff. But like most everyone we all like the shinier paint and in as much as I want the best in protection I still want the glossy finish. It`s always something but I wish the journey was getting to the end a bit quicker Thanks Jim

Talking about Finishing polish I just used Meguiars Finishing metal polish on the items on my engine.
