  • Help!!!

    Hey guys,

I've been using Meg's products for a few years now, but I've decided to step up my game a little. Before I start going HAM, I was hoping a few of you could give me some pointers since I haven't really been able to find the answers I'm looking for.

This is my pride and joy

1998 Subaru Impreza STi v5 with just over 30,000 miles on it.

    ...and this the roof

The pictures really don't do it justice. It looks worse.

I've always done detailing by hand, but when I saw the DA power system, I bought it on the spot. Only problem is that I live in Japan at the moment, so I have to wait for everythjng to get shipped to the base I'm at.

After I clay the car, do you guys think that with some UC, UP and a good waxing, Ill be able to do some correction to the roof with the DA power system?

    TIA,
    Ken

    Re: Help!!!

If those are rock chips or clear coat failure, then no. Its a little hard to tell from the pics, but at least a couple spots look like it.

You don't want to work those spots where the paint loos cracked too hard.

But yeah, the DA System should bring back a good shine pretty good. And to the whole car....

yes that's what you should do or try the new black wax. I've had some good experiances with it and it's an all in one. But you might not want to wait for it.

        Re: Help!!!

Thanks guys! I also have another question, the car came with these ugly rain guards, I took them off but I'm having an issue getting the 3M tape off. In the past, I've use goo gone or wd40 and it's always worked for the most part, but this stuff is being really stubborn. My neighbor told me to try using gas, but I'm a little nervouse to use a solvent like that on my paint... He also said nail polish remover. I'm just in a jam because I want the stuff off ASAP, and the product I wanted to use I can't get here (3M adhesive remover/cleaner).

        Thanks again,
        Ken

          Re: Help!!!

Maybe some sort of Bug and Tar Remover.

If it is an actual piece of tape, maybe softening it up some with a hair dryer then rubbing off.

I see some clear coat failure, but maybe im wrong.

If it is, there is nothing to correct but psint, if you want to improve then 5 steps will make it better but not totally correct it.

Try using duct tape. Fold it around your hand, stick it and pull the glue off.

Gas or wd40 should do the trick, don't let it sit and wash clean afterwards!

                    Re: Help!!!

                    So here's a little update.

I tackled the roof of the car with the little time I had. It's been nothing but rain here in Japan for a while now.

For the most part, I didnt really see much of an improvement in the paint, but to the touch it feels incredible. Slick and smooth as a sheet of glass.
I'm sure in more capable hands, it would have came out better.

My biggest issue I was having is that while using the UC an UP, it kept drying as I would go for my second pass. Idk if this is because it was a little cold outside (I don't have a garage or anywhere to work indoors) or because the paint on the roof is so shot that it's just sucking all the oil out of the products... Or I could be using to little, and spreading it to far.

All in all I'm pleased with how the DA power system works... But, I wish I would've went with the Meg's DA.

I have a very poor before and after picture:

It doesn't look like it make much of a difference, but it did.

As you can tell from the pictures, it wasn't to great out. I just had an itch and it needed to be scratched, so I went at it.

Monday looks like I may have a chance to go for it again, so I will. I just wish I could work indoors, or in the shade. I know I could get better results if I wasn't out in the elements.

I just want to put this out there to people who may read this, the DA power system is awesome! Don't hesitate to go for it. You get great results.

                      Re: Help!!!

Could have been a bit of all of it helping dry the products up.

Also not working too big of an area.

Probably only want 1 foot square or so at a time.
