  • Claying Question

My Smooth Surface Clay Kit arrived today. I noticed it contained a bottle of Quik Detailer spray. Would Ultimate Quik Detailer be a better product to use for the claying process?

    Re: Claying Question

IMO no. I've used that kit & it worked fine. The QD was designed to work with that clay.

I asked the same question before and you should use the QD for the claying and not the UQD. I forget the reason why but yea, QD for claying.

Well, the UQD costs more, so a bit of a waste. But the UQD also leaves a very slick polymer coating on the surface. So you are basically spraying the dirt you want to remove with a slick protective polymer, and then trying to remove it.

          Mostly this ^^

UQD is too slick for the claying process, and the durable polymers in it could actually impede the claying process. We put good ol' Quik Detailer in the Smooth Surface Clay Kit because it's the best choice for the job.

I've always used QD with clay in the past, wetting the bar now and then seems to help make the bottle of QD stretch a bit.

How do you learn such things?

It would be mighty helpful to have a product list with attributes or features check list so that this info can be referenced easily.
Even a list for all the megs sprays would be helpful...

There seems to be a great wealth of info but somewhat scattered.

Does Last Touch have the polymers?

Well, hanging around here way too much helps...

But I think the bottle/description also says that UQD leaves a polymer coating behind.

QD, LT, or FI are your main claying sprays.

Haha I am sure it does...
But even when the bottle said that I personally wouldn't have come to the conclusion your post makes where you say by using UQD you are basically adding those polymers to the dirt then trying to remove it...
To me I would have read the bottle and thought the polymers some how assisted the dirt removal process.
Every time I take a step forward I seem to take two steps back in my understanding

I rarely visit just www.meguiars.com. After you select a product and go to its page...it has some icons that state product benefits/features. This is kinda what I was looking for.
