  • Which wax/sealant?

I have a two year old German car with medium gray paint. The car is parked in the garage every night and the paint is in perfect condition. I have been using #7 New Car Glaze followed by NXT 2.0. NXT just doesn't seem to last?

I am looking for the longest lasting wax/sealant. Which product do you recommend?

Ult. Wax is going to be the longest lasting thing Meguiars makes.

Of course, it would be good to know what "doesnt seem to last" means to you, since there could be other things going on. For instance, you dont mention claying or cleaning the paint? So that can effect how well wax bonds to the surface.

If parked in garage, any wax will last a longer period....way too many factors at play.

My G35 parked in the garage protected with 1 coat of Megs Gold Class liquid wax still looks great after 1 yr...while my DD Subie parked outside 24/7 looks to be wanting a fresh coat of protection...yet it has Collinite 476 x2 coats from last Oct.

I may be no product expert but I thought that the #7 glaze had really high polishing oil content and it itself does not last long on cars in the sun.

Putting NXT on top of #7 may be part of the issue.

Without any applied experience with that combo, I think you would see NXT last longer if you only use NXT. It looks like it is having issues binding to the #7.

There have been a few articles in the past, but the Meguiars lab folk have found that the polishing oils do not efect the durability of the waxes, at least as far as Meguiars producs going toether.

#7 glaze shouldn't really affect the durability of NXT 2.0, megs only state that using a pure polish is optional. It's a strange thing, sometimes or often times paints react differently to certain product combinations even if it the paint's reaction is contrary to what is recommended by paint protection products. Why not try using NXT 2.0 without the #7? Ok,#7 maybe without #7, there will be a slight reduction in depth and wetness, but if durabilty is compromised due to maybe it would be wiser not to use it.
