  • Ultimate Polish followed by NXT 2.0?

I just bought my new Dart and I want to start off on the right foot. I occasionally take the car through automatic washes in the winter because its waayy too cold to wash it by hand in Michigan. So, I'm expecting tiny surface lines before the first wax (and maybe none at all). I'm planning on using the ultimate polish before applying wax, but I was wondering if I should use the NXT 2.0 or the ultimate wax....or does it make a difference. I want the synthetic wax to last a little while, which is why I'm not using Carnauba. Thanks!

I applied the NXT after UP. Looks great. I also am using it on a silver car. If you have a darker car, you might do the UW instead.

Since both Ultimate and NXT 2.0 are fully synthetic you're on the right track with either one. But....waxes and sealants can be very personal things. Some people can see subtle differences between various waxes, others can see fairly large differences. It all depends on your perception, your preferences, etc. There really is no "right" or "wrong" answer here as we all have our personal likes and preferences. Ultimate is our longest lasting, best protecting wax/sealant so if that's you primary criteria, then Ultimate would be your number one choice.

Well said. I know when I did my hood recently with the new da buffer, I use up on one side followed by next. The other side with up then #26 hi tech yellow wax and had a hard time seeing any difference. Like Michael said its personal preference and it can be difficult from one person to another to see a difference or not.

Oh and all products do a great job. You can see my car in silver car owners under detailing 101.

You can definitely use UP before NXT 2.0 or Ultimate Wax. As mentioned, it can also depend on the color of your car. Darker colors usually benefit most on using a pure polish or in this case, a mild cleaner polish like UP. Don't forget to clay the Dart before polishing and waxing, it does make a difference unless upon checking your Dart is mostly contaminant free. If or When all goes well, maintain it with Ultimate Quik Detailer for light dust removal and Ultimate Quik Wax maybe once a week just to keep that slick waxed feel going, and of course car wash once a week or as needed. I usually apply UQD even after a car wash, maybe it's overkill but to my eye spraying a quick detailer after a car wash adds that extra shine.

What year is your Dart anyway?

I read somewhere that the proper sequence of product use after washing and drying the car is to apply Ultimate Quik Detailer, then Tech Wax 2.0, and finally Ultimate Quik Wax. Is that the proper sequence? Should a polish (which one) be applied before the UQD? Would Ultimate Wax be better (durability/gloss) than Tech Wax 2.0? All are to be applied/removed by hand, no D/A buffer unfortunately. This is a brand new car with no visible swirls, etc.

              No, thats really not needed.

              1. Wash
              2. Clay
              3. Clean/Polish - Ult. Polish
              4. Wax - Ult. Wax, Nxt 2.0, etc
              5. Wax - Ult. Wax, Nxt 2.0, etc

              or:

              1. Wash
              2. Clay
              3. cleaner/wax - Cleaner/Wax, ColorX, Black Wax, White Wax
              4. Wax - Ult. Wax, Nxt 2.0, etc

Would Ultimate Wax be better (durability/gloss) than Tech Wax 2.0?
Yeah, Ult. Wax should be more durable. Gloss is hard to say.

How frequently should the polish step be followed? Is it easily removable by hand?

If you are going to do a detail like that 4 or so times a year, then you can use the polish each time to get any dirt off the paint.

Yeah, it is easy to apply and remove by hand, of course using good technique, and good quality towels.
