  • Brake Dust Barrier Questions

Used a non-Meguiar's metal polish on rims, does it need to be removed (with a product like Eraser) before Brake Dust Barrier is applied?

Can Brake Dust Barrier be used safely on "chromed" plastic? Vehicle has difficult to remove, large chromed plastic hubs.

    Thanks,

    Re: Brake Dust Barrier Questions

If it was a straight up polish and not a polish/wax then you shouldn't have to remove anything prior to BDB application. But if you get the sense that anything was left behind, it's probably best to take the extra couple of minutes and wipe down the wheels with Eraser, IPA or similar. You should have zero problems using BDB on chromed plastic wheels or wheel parts. Just make sure you don't apply heavily enough to cause a run, or so lightly that you add texture due to inadequate coverage, and you should be good to go.
