Was curious as to all of your opinions. We all know Rock Dings/Pings in hoods are inevitable and drive people like us crazy! I have seen some use the paint protection film but that looks like **** after a few years also. We have a new 2013 CR-V and already have a small rock ping on the hood. I use to use touch up paint in these areas as I was afraid if I did nothing it would rust or paint would peel. What is your opinion. I sometimes think the touchup paint no matter how well done looks worse than the very small chip in the paint. Is touchup paint for appearance only and really does nothing for protecting the paint around the blemish or should it be applied with each ding. I also have a silver Scion that has several on the front. I have touched up a few of them and some I have not. I have not seen any clear or paint peeling around the ones I have done nothing with. I use enough spray waxes and polymers that I don't think rusting will ever be an issue.

Re: Your Opinions: Touch up Rock Pings or not?
Depends on what you can live with. I personally won't touch-up with paint, I would wait until there was enough dings in the hood and have them repaired all at once. Sometimes you trade one problem for another. IF you can find a sharpie, the ones that are called paint pens, that matches pretty close to your paint color, they are easier to use. I have found these to be quite useful and work quite well.

I'll use a toothpick and just put a few dabs in the chip if needed, to get the metal covered up. Removing any rust first.
