  • New Car Need Wax??

    Hi guys!

My sister just got a brand-spankin new Honda Civic (I was pleased to see it was black... drum up some business for me )
The car is started to look a little dirty from pollen and what not so she wants me to keep it in its best looking condition being that it is new and everything. But I hear the paint needs time to cure before I can get in there and start the wash/wax process, seems pretty legit but what about using UW&W?

I really want to do her car, but I don't want to jump the gun either

    Any ideas?

detail the %$*& out of it! the paint is cured, check the mnf date on the door plate. All new car need a new car prep. You have no idea what that car has been threw plus the dealer doesn't put a detailer on it just a prep guy that has to get as many cars done as he can in a day.
So go threw every inch of it, buff/polish wax/seal and interior treatments.
    Full price job

The cure time, to let paint fully outgas, applies to resprays. Factory paints are baked in high temperatures, and instantly cured, because it's done before any temperature sensitive parts are put inside (plastics, rubbers, etc).

Many new cars actually need claying as well because they spend long time in outdoor parking lots before transported and purchased.

You could also use a gentle paint cleaner before waxing, after washing and claying, like Ultimate Polish, which is also a great gloss booster.
Ultimate Paste Wax leaves dark paints in awesome condition.

The dealer I purchased my last "ride" from had a storage area near a set of railroad tracks in SJC that the MetroLiner whizzed by on at 50-60 mph several times a day. I'm sure my "ride" spent some time in that storage area; you should have seen the clay when I clayed it.

No jumping the gun here - the factory paint is fully cured by the time it lands in your garage (or your sister's garage, as the case may be) so feel free to jump right in. Wash and dry the car then evaluate it carefully for both bonded contaminants and below surface defects. The paint will tell you what it needs - if it's rough, clay it (this is extremely common on new cars, but not always present) and if you see swirls, feel free to use any appropriate paint cleaner (Ultimate Compound, SwirlX or just a good cleaner wax) either by hand or with a DA buffer. Finally, choose an appropriate wax/sealant to finish it all off and enjoy the shine.

I purchased a new Jetta 2013, but the Shine was very discreet, but after I've applied the Deep Crystal Carnauba Wax, the Shine has changed dramatically, also the touch the paint gives a smooth feel, and water and dust slide easily.

I really recommend waxing your car =) (But I'm newbie)

Go ahead, detail it. Nothing's nicer than a shiny new car made even shinier by the owner.

If there are no major scratches or swirls maybe this:

                1. Gold Class Car wash
                2. Clay, clay, clay...
                3. Ultimate Polish
                4. For durablity, depth and crisp reflections, Ultimate Wax. For that really deep shine but less on durability, GOld Class Carnauba Plus
                5. Maintain with either gold class quik wax/quik detailer or ultimate quik detailer/quik wax. If car wash is for some reason not available, ultimate wash and wax anywhere.

Got the Meguiar's polisher in the mail yesterday and when I tried to turn it on, it wouldn't start

So now I gotta ship it back to Irvine so they can see what the problem is... damn I really wanted to use it
