  • An M20 question

I have just applied a coat of M20 to my car. What is the recommended wait time before applying a second coat, not of M20 but one of my favorite carnauba waxes? I'm thinking 2,3, or 4 hours. Any suggestions? Does Meguiar's have an official recommendation for me? TIA.

15 minutes is nice, 12-24 hours for absolute best looks.

Or the best you can do in between.

Since M20 is a polymer sealant you should allow several hours for full cross linking before topping with a carnauba. Exact time is going to vary a bit, but if you apply M20 in the morning you should be fine applying a carnauba late that same afternoon. If M20 goes on late in the day then optimum cure time would be to wait overnight.

If you apply M20 (or any other sealant) just one hour before applying another wax on top will you see or otherwise notice a huge difference, either visually or performance wise? Probably not, but there is a cure time for polymers to cross link and they really should be allowed to do so before disturbing the surface to get max durability out of any such product.

Thanks, Mike. I thought (actually hoped) perhaps that because M20 is an older synthetic product that its polymers might not be of the cross-linking kind and would not need a full 12 hours of cure time before topping. Oh well. I'll wait till tomorrow morn.
