  • How do I know when the wax I applied to the car wears off? and cheap quality MF towel

Hi guys/ gals! I have 2 questions and I decided that even though they are completely different from one another, it would be best to post them on the same thread

    1) How do I know if the wax I applied to my vehicle wore off or not?
I usually see posts saying that you should wax your car about 4 times a year but I wax mine probably about once a month

    2) I went searching on eBay for new microfiber towels and I was surprised when I found 10 towels (16"x16") for $7.20!
I was wondering if this meant that the low price meant that there was a decrease in quality of the towel.

Please take a look at the link and let me know what you think:

With regard to your first question, do a search for "The Squeak Test" to tell if you have any wax left.

The silver one demands nothing and it looks just fine. I think the black vehicle is taking advantage of me, and the silver car is more my style. We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

      Here you go:

The Squeak Test - How to test for the presence of wax

Also, with regards to the MF towels, I find it a bit hard to tell from pics alone. I prefer to touch/feel them myself before purchasing. Having said that, I have a lot of cheaper / no-name MF's which perform just fine.

      Hope that helps!

Usually easiest to just get a feel for how the water runs off your car during the final rinse... you'll start to see where it is rinsing off differently and seems to be degrading.

Unless you were in a real harsh environment, using a spray wax after washing should push you out longer than a month between proper waxing, but you can always do waxing as often as you enjoy.

Hard to say about the towels.

I think that a lot of people are comfortable with the size and quality of these on their cars:

I wax every time I wash my car...which is once a week. I use Meguiar's Ultimate Spray wax...
