DA Microfiber Correction System has been designed to match microfiber discs with specific liquids: D300 Correction Compound and D301 Finishing Wax.

Some detailers experimented with different liquids successfully. If you use M105 with MF cutting disc, defect removal will be faster than with D300.
It was also stated that MF discs will wear out faster when used outside D300/ D301 zone.

You could also experience faster paint removal if you use forced rotation D/A polisher.

MF or foam pads and 105/205

I have 3 black cars - Chevy 1/2 ton, BMW 128I and a 66 Chevelle (new paint clear coat).

I have a DA polisher and have wheels, pads and product for both systems.

The time it takes to get a good finsih is not and issue, I am looking to get the best finish that will last the longest.

Is one of these systems better than the other? Or is it just personal prefernce?

As greg stated the MF system is designed to be used with D300 and D301. I have seen it experimented with on a regular polishing pad. Longevity wise I would not recommend using M105 or 205 on the MF pads. And yes it is personal preference as to the result you are looking for. Mike Phillips used to say; "find something you like and use it often"

As Andy said above - it all comes to personal preference, as there aren't universal detailing recipes which work on every paint and in every situation.

Based on your info, where time is not an issue and you want to take all paints to their high level of finish, I would recommend the following:
after washing and claying make the initial cut with D300 Correction Compound/ 5" MF cutting disc/ 4,800 opm (speed 4 on G110v2), next polishing step can be done with M205 Ultra Finishing Polish/ polishing or finishing foam pad (Meguiar's yellow or black), if D300 finishes with a lot of haze use polishing pad, if there's very little or no haze go with finishing pad, after polishing use your favorite wax/ sealant (Meguiar's Ultimate Paste Wax looks great on black).

That way you stretch MF System and instead of using just D301 Finishing Wax you do 2 steps: polishing with M205 and waxing.

If speed is needed, and results matter as well, you can't really beat the simplicity and time saving aspects of DA Microfiber Correction System. Therefore it is placed in Detailer Line of Meguiar's products where high volume facilities need to restore paint quickly and effectively.
