  • UQD before UQW

I just waxed my silver car (well maintained) 2 weeks ago and I did not drive in the rain since the wax.

I am thinking to apply my California Duster to the car then UQW. Should I do UQD before the quik wax? I'm sure it does not hurt but maybe I would be wasting product.

I certainly would. You should have the surface as clean as possible before applying wax, either spray or other.

Wont hurt, but yeah, is the expensive QD spray to use like that.

Well dusting only dust the car so there still is dirt left behind. Using a detailer is ok on a clean car but if its dirty then I would use a waterles wash. In one step you'll wash, dry and wax.

          Re: UQD before UQW

I don't have any waterless wash.
The duster would remove dust and small sand (if any) so the car is safe for UQW.

I posted this thread because it seems redundant to use both UQD and UQW.

It may seem redundant, but personally in your situation, I would dust, then use UQD before UQW. I agree that UQW should only be used on a completely clean surface.

If you don't have enough time, why don't you just dust / UQD for now? UQD will still boost your wax protection, and you can apply UQW next time you do a traditional wash. Just a thought...

We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

I just used UQW after I ran the California Duster on my car twice.
The car looks great. It helps that I waxed only 2 weeks ago.

                Re: UQD before UQW

UQD and UQW are complementary. UQD removes dust, leaves that hydrophobic protection leaves the paint ready for UQW, though i would only use UQW if needed or if UQD becomes more difficult to remove. UQW is like UQD on steroids, leaves even more protection and slickness to the paint. UQW used regularly will boost the car's existing wax/sealant protection, while UQD will boost the UQW protection as well as the wax/sealant coat on the car.
