  • Proper prep before using U.P.

Do I need to wash with blue dawn before I use UP to remove wax first or can I just dive in to a clean car with the UP on a DA with a polishing pad?

No need to use Dawn. A clay bar can be a good idea.

Just found my answer on page 17 of the UP write up,yes UP will remove the old wax. Does this mean increased cleaning of the pad is needed during use?

On a side note Murr1525, I wanted to thank you for your contribution to this site. I've spent countless hours on here reading and I notice you take the time to share your knowledge and experience. Means alot to us newbies. Thank You!

        Not really.

More pad cleaning would be good, or just a clean pad along the way, just because of the pad loading up with UP over time.

Not a problem, glad to help.

It's also important to consider how long it's been since the last time you waxed. We so often see people concerned about stripping the "old wax" before using even a light paint cleaner like Ultimate Polish, only to find out they haven't waxed in 6 months or longer. If that's the case, there isn't much wax left to worry about in the first place since all waxes, whether carnauba or synthetic, degrade over time. Even if you've been waxing a car twice a year (or even 4 times a year) for 10 years, it's not like you've got some large build up of wax on the surface. That car has no more wax on it than a brand new car that was waxed for the first time six months ago.
