interior protectant questions

I have been detailing my 2011 tacoma for a year now. It seems that my interior dash and trim originally would appear very dark and wet looking when I would apply the protectant and stay that way for a long time. Now when I apply it seems to fad and not have as much luster very quickly. I have used the detailing wipes to try and clean off the older protectant before applying new. does anyone else notice or have this issue?

I use megs low gloss and ultimate protectant depending on my mood.
