  • Odd white paint haze problem.

I'm a newbie and last fall I painted and clear coated 2 new panels red in my garage. Both were new aftermarket panels. One panel was primed with the proper red by a good body shop and the other had a black primer that came on it from the factory. I applied 2 coats of red and 2 of clear coat from a PPG dealer. There wasn't much shine, but I got busy and lived with it.

I saw what the shine might be while washing it and decided to work on it some more. I hand rubbed a test area on each panel with Meguiar's Swirl Remover 2.0. It smoothed the finish nicely, but left the paint with a serious white haze over most of it. White, not opaque. I have no idea where the white came from. I then tried hand rubbing Meguiar's Ultimate Compound on the first area and beyond with the same results.

So where did I do wrong and how do I fix it? thanks

How long after painting did you wait till you applied the swirl remover? Any chance of a pic or 2?
