  • Just got a DA

    Hi my name is Robert

I recently took a Saturday beginners class in Irvine, Ca.

And not to long ago I received a free Meguiars DA model number Gv110 with backing plate W67DA

Products that I plan to use are:

    Meguiars gold line car wash
    Meguiars Clay bar (used before)
    Meguiars ultimate compound*
    Meguiars ultimate polish
NXT generation wax 2.0 (favorite wax)

Pads I plan to use with backing plate W67DA

    W8006
    W9006

    My questions are:

Will changing to backing plate w68da with pads w8207 and w9207 be any different from the ones I plan to use?

    Am I missing anything?

    The vehicles I have are:
    99' 4runner black
    08 Toyota tundra

Well, those would be the newer pads, and are washable, little different size I think.

There is nothing wrong with the older ones, and I wash them by hand, just not really soaking the velcro.

        Re: Just got a DA

        Congrats on your new D/A!

The size is different. The Softbuff pads are 6.5" while the Softbuff 2.0 pads are 7".

IMO, you'll be more efficient using the Softbuff 2.0 pads with the W68DA because of 2 main reasons. First, the pad has better support - meaning that the backing plate covers more surface area at the top of the pad. Second, the Softbuff 2.0 pads are thinner making it easier to turn for the machine. The load is less than the Softbuff pads even if it's half an inch bigger in diameter.
