  • Wash and Wax Anywhere vs. ONR...an observation

This not a review, just an observation. I used Wash and Wax Anywhere for the first time today. My white Hemi was only dusty, no anchored dirt, but there were a few specks of tree sap. It most certainly performed as promised. However, I believe that I could have done a more thorough job more quickly using ONR (or any other rinseless wash). From now on I'll limit Wash and Wax Anywhere to use as a super quick detailer on my Harleys. That way the rather "pricey" stuff should last a long time.

Been using ONR for a month already. Still waiting for UWWA's arrival in my country. Once available, I'll do a comparative test & review.

Ever since I started using a rinseless wash I really don't use QD's anymore.

How's that white Ram treating you? I have 6k miles on mine so far.

        Scott,

Since you asked, my Ram has about 6k miles just like yours. My "relationship" with it started off "not so good". All of the body panels fit just fine, but the paint was not all that great. On its first detail, I discovered numerous dust nibs in the paint...over forty. With advice from some folks on this forum and two other forums, I was able to satisfactorily level/remove all of them without compromising the clear coat too much. If the clear goes bad in the future, I'll trade it off. I have never had this many dust nibs in a new vehicle and this goes back to 1961. I pointed out the problem to the folks at the dealership, but decided to try to correct the problem myself after they minimized it and told me that if they tried to correct the problem it might come out worse. I also had to have one of the polished/painted 20-inch wheels replaced because it had bad clear coat. It took three new wheels from the factory to get it right. In general I really like my Ram. It's my third. However this one may be my last just because of the lack of quality control. I put 100,000 miles on my first two. No major mechanical problems on either one and none on this one so far. My Ram has a 3:92 limited slip rear end and it runs like a "stripped a--ed" ape. All in all, it's a great toy for a seventy year old who refuses to grow up.

Well, a more direct comparison would be using Meguiar's Rinse Free Express Wash, which is a direct competitor to ONR, rather than UWWA. Sounds like you may be learning about when a vehicle is a bit too dusty for the UWWA, a more thorough method such as RFEW may be a better fit.

I sometimes find myself debating which method to use as well.

I have to drive on four miles of gravel road just to get to the highway. Maybe UWWA is simply not for me. I actually need to "flush" the dust off before using a rinseless wash.

Oh -- right now I am trying to decide whether to order the new ONR or some Meguiar's Rinse Free. Wish I could buy 32 ounces of the stuff to try it out. I use all Meguiar's products and I sort of wonder how compatible they are to ONR, but then that's another post.

Regarding the sample of Meg's rinse free, Autoality has it.

Yeah, sounds like a true rinseless product is a better match. As for Meg's RFEW, I believe some vendors sell smaller bottles (ADS?). That said, having used both products, I will never order another gallon of ONR personally again - I absolutely love RFEW and it feels much slicker than ONR and releases the dirt into the bucket better IMO. Used it today... love this stuff.
