  • Polish after claying

What's everyone's opinion on using a polish after claying a vehicle, even if were talking about new paint as in a new vehicle?

I realize it depends on what condition the paint may be in when you take delivery, but if no issues is it really necessary (extra step) or will you even see much in the way of an improvement?

I have normally just washed, clay and then LSP and have had good results.

Maybe you could try to do a test spot and see if the polish makes a difference. It can only benefit the paint because of the polishing oils. If it doesn't make a difference then you can go straight to LSP application. At least you didn't waist your time and it gives you peace of mind knowing that the paint is at the best state possible.

If I had extra time though, I'd do a quick polishing step. It should clean the paint nicely and promote a better bond fo the LSP.

Well, it all covers different things, at least in Meguiars terminology.

So yeah, can be a good thing to do.

I like to at least use a cleaner/wax then wax after claying.
