So I've been trying to learn all I can over the last month and building my product collection. I even went to a TNOG to learn some technique but it was super busy that night to really learn anything. Today I tackled the front portion of my explorer. Thursday I washed it. Friday I Clayed the whole car. And today I used UC, UP, and ULW all by hand. When using the UC I put it on using MF pad and a terry cloth pad. I rubbed it in with some passion and only a small section at a time. It wasn't on there for more then 4 minutes. When I tried to wipe it off it would come off. I tried rubbing longer but there was still product left on car after wiping. I had to REALLY SCRUB hard to get it off. Is this normal? I just thought my paint was dry or something but the same thing happened with the UP. I had to use QD to get the residue off between products. I even tried to use less product on application but it still did it. I was in shade with car cool to touch. Help please.

Since UC is a compound, there is really no use in letting it sit on the paint. It will just make it more difficult to remove and it doesn't accomplish much of anything. As for the was strokes, maybe you applied too much wax and didn't get it off properly? What were you using for an applicator, how long did you leave it on, and what method did you use?

That's the thing. I didn't let the UC to sit. I worked it into paint to wiped it off right away. I prob worked in in for 2-3 minutes at a time and wiped it off. For the ULW I used the black applicator it came with. I tried not to use to much but I wiped it off with the black towel it came with and followed up with an ultra shine towel. I let it dry for about 10 minutes then wiped. Should I just go over it again with a MF again and use more pressure? If I put another coat on will that help?

Ok so today I tried my door with UC,UP,and ULW. Same thing happened. I even made sure to wipe off while it was still wet. From the time I put it on applicator to time I finish wiping off was less than 2 minutes. Still had a lot of residue left. I even use QD to wipe off rest of residue before going to next step and i had to do that twice to get residue off. What am I doing wrong? It's frustrating and I've used almost a whole bottle of QD just wiping off residue. Trust me I put some passion into wiping off UC and still was left on there. My arms are sore today. I'm 6'1'' and weigh 270 also play baseball and kickbox. I mean I really had to scrub to get that stuff off. Please somebody help

It was about 80 degrees around 730 pm in California. Surface wasn't hot and it was in the shade. I'm saving up for a DA. I'm supposed to buy my buddies but he's been lagging on it. I think I'm just gonna try to go to TNOG soon to correct my technique. I'm just so frustrated right now

Working by hand can be a bit tricky at times, depending on the age of the paint, the applicators you're using, amount of product, size of work area, etc. Please do come down to our next TNOG (it's on the 28th of this month) and we'll make a point of getting you in the garage and working on your technique. Don't be shy about grabbing when you arrive and talking about this. Sure, these sessions can get pretty busy, but this is the exact sort of reason why we conduct them in the first place.

Thanks for all the input guys. I was thinking over everything and I think it may be that I'm using too much product. Although I must say I'm very happy with the outcome of my shine. Lol I think I just want it perfect the first time I try. I just have to relax and continue improving my skills slowly but surely. That's why I'm using this car as practice so once I get my new cars I'll have it down. Thanks again for all the input guys. It's really appreciated.
