  • 205 Vs Ultimate compound

Do you guys see any difference in the two products? They both come off the same to me. I own 105, 205, and ultimate compound and I go to Ultimate compound the most. Sometimes I don't even feel the need to follow ultimate compound with any kind of polish and jump straight to wax.

Ultimate Compound is definitely more aggressive than M205. Ultimate Compound is derived from M105. Both these products are used to cut through heavy defects and severe swirl marks. Ultimate Polish is derived from M205 and they're more of a mild cleaner and a finishing polish. M205/UP are used to refine the initial compounding stage or clean up minor swirl marks.

You're right though. More often than not, you don't need to follow up UC. UC finishes LSP ready.

Check out this thread where it shows you the aggressiveness level of each product in the grand scheme of things:

Marc's description is pretty much spot on. Whether or not you need to follow UC with anything else will depend on the application process and, perhaps more importantly, how the paint responds to it. In most cases you can go straight from UC to wax, but if you're working with a buffer on really nice paint you can do wonders to even further improve the clarity and gloss by following with M205 prior to wax application.

Thanks for the follow up guys! Ill do a little test spot following UC with 205 this weekend to see if its worth doing the entire vehicle or not with 205.

What color is your vehicle? Are you using a D/A or a rotary? Since you're using it as a follow up, use M205 with the W9207 Finishing Pad or an equivalent finishing pad for best reflections and clarity.

This weekend im doing a black Audi A6 and a Sapphire Black Metallic Bmw Mcoupe. Audi should have light-moderate swirls and the M coupe very little swirls. I will attempt both cars with M205 and an CSS orange pad first before even considering UC. If the orange doesnt work then maybe a Yellow CSS pad. But I think the audi willneed UC.
Last weekend I did a Black Porsche 911 with UC and went straight to wax and it came out wonders removing HEAVY scratches. The owner was so impressed.
