    Re: Will These Suffice

Well, I just finished up the VW with decent results. I had hoped for better results, but didn't expect them. The heavy cut worked unbelievably well. I was able to get out some scratches that I didn't think possible. That left the paint with a hazy look, which the fine cut was able to remove without much problem. There was still a fair amount of swirl marks and some holograms when I was finished the fine cut. I have a feeling the fine cut was not fine enough for my wishes, but obviously the worst mistake was not using the quality back plate and foam pad. Now that the initial investment is over I think I will order the 105 and 205 as well as the pads and back plates that I should have been using all along. Just in time to do my pickup. Lol

My question is should one of each pad be enough to do the job, or will I need to have a couple of each on hand to get the job done? Also for applying the yellow wax I am using a terry cloth pad on my 10" da. Any objections?

Much of the hologramming you got is probably down to the pad you used and not so much the liquid. Going to quality foam pads and higher tech liquids will make a huge difference in your results.

For heavy correction you'll want more than one pad as you'll be working more aggressively here and the pads can sort of take a beating. A pad for polish and a separate pad for wax is recommended, even if both process utilize a finishing pad. As for applying wax with a terry cloth bonnet on your 10" DA, we'd caution against that approach. Terry cloth can have some pretty good bite on it's own, and when applying wax you want the least invasive approach possible. Either a soft microfiber or foam bonnet would be preferable, but it sort of depends on what this particular tool manufacturer has available for this purpose.

Great michael, Thanks again for your input. The supplies for my da are quite limitted. I will look around for a decent foam pad. I need the kind that stretches over the back plate and is held on with an elastic. I will eventually replace this cheap stuff with some quality, but I have to prove to myself that I can do a good job, and it's worth the investment. Thanks again for all the advice, I think I'm on the right track now
