  • Couple questions before i start my first detailing.

Ok so i just received my meguiars da polisher in the mail today and im excited to get started over the weekend.

My car is only a couple weeks old so its in great condition. I do have a small area of scratches where i stupidly wiped off some bird droppings with a paper towel but other than that everythings perfect.

    Wash With GCW
    Dry
    Clay with Meguiars Kit
Use Scratch X with polisher on the scratched portion
Use ColorX over the entire car with 2 White CCS Lake Country pad.
    Wax with Nxt liquid wax.

Wondering if the white pad which had the most cutting power was ok to use for the scratchx and colorx?
Is it possible to use just these
Also have 2 blue and 2 black pad ccs. Which should i use for the wax?
Is the 6 pads enough to do the entire car while cleaning the pad on the fly after every 2 sections?
Do i need to clean the pads after each section of waxing?

Also wondering, considering how the car is only 3 weeks old. how much time should i allot to do this whole detail? i was hoping to get in done in about 3-4 hours. is this feasible considering the condition of the car?

    Thanks and wish me luck!

ScratchX isnt the most DA friendly product, but for a small spot you'll be ok. I wouldn't want it for an entire car.

Not up on my LC pad colors, but you would generally want a polishing pad for ScratchX and ColorX, and then finishing for Wax.

6 should be plenty for you.

With the ColorX, cleaning on the fly and changing half way is ok. With the Nxt Wax, you can just use one pad for everything, no cleaning needed.

Probably more like 4-5 if you are moving fast and staying organized, but could be longer your first time.

This should give you an idea on which pad to use for the job. It all depends on the level of correction that's needed.

I would try the ultimate compound with a polishing pad. A cutting pad may be overkill, although it depends how much cutting power you want for your correction. The ultimate compound with a polishing pad (mild cutting power) on setting 5 with the DA will show some promising results. Then top it with ultimate polish with a finishing pad. Then use a different finishing pad to apply the wax/sealant, 2 coats should provide good protection. NXT 2.0 or ultimate wax are good choices for a sealant.
