  • Any suggestions?

Does anybody have any suggestions on something that I could use every time I apply a wax that could clean the paint with before a pure polish then finishing up with a wax or a sealant. The catch is that it has to be safe everytime I apply a wax and I like to do that at least once a month. Any help would be appreciated. Greg.

*I would like to find a product that is safe to use that frequently preferably that wont take any paint with it. I am just confused.

Well, any of Meguiars paint cleaners will be safe every time...

The paint cleaner you need will just be determined by the condition of your paint. You could tell us more about your paint condition, and application methods, and something could be recomended perhaps as a start.

In general, the consumer line DC#1 is the mildest, and #83 applied by rotary, or scratchX, are about the strongest I would say.

Unless your question is will the cleaner remove the wax? And then it is yes, it will remove your wax, and then you will replosih and rewax.

Also, rubbing anything over the surface removes some paint. The Meguiars products, even those with the diminishing abrasives, will be safe to use for a long time. You wouldnt want to rub in ScratchX hard every month for 10 yrs... but then you shouldnt have to. You may only need to use a bit more of an aggrassive cleaner after winter, and then can use a very mild one, or even a mild cleaner polish the rest of the time.

If you are looking to stay in the Meguiars line. DC1 paint cleaner is your best bet in my opinion. P21s paint cleaner is another option, however much more expensive and harder to find.

        Hey,

If you are looking for something that is very mild and yet will clean the paint and leave it looking really rich and deep, I would use Meguiar's #9 Swirl Remover. Follow this with either #7 Show Car Glaze or #81 Hand Polish then top with NXT Tech Wax or #20/26 combo. You will love the results!!

I would suggest phrasing that as; "any of Meguiars consumer line paint cleaners will be safe every time..."

As you mentioned, consumer line products like DC#1 and ScratchX are always safe, as are some of the professional line like #83 Dual Action Cleaner/Polish.

Some of the other pro-line paint cleaners, such as #4 Heavy-Cut Cleaner or #84 Compound Power Cleaner, would not be appropriate for routine use.
