  • Using Ultimate Compound on NEW CAR PURCHase

    I own a Nissan 2012 Tuscan Red..
Had car 2 weeks and decided to give it a wash. Notice a few swirls and a scratch that you can only see if your really close to car. Luckily the pollen hides it :-). Thinking of Using Ultimate Compound.. Is this a bad Idea??

Or should I try to polish them out using the "Meguiars dual action polisher.
give me your thoughts, my meguiars dual action buffer is on back order...

Since you car is brand new, I would wipe it down with IPA to see how bad the DISO really are before jumping in with Ultimate Compund. From your description, UC might be more than you need....why make more work for you self?

If swirls and scratches are moderate, you may only need to use Scratch X, Ultimate Polish, or Swirl X to correct the paint.

If you are getting a buffer of some sort, I would definatley wait for that before removing swirls.

SwirlX by hand now and in the future would be fine for general cleaning, and would be better at removing swirls when the machine arrives.

I would use the milder ones first, Either SwirlX or Ultimate Polish.. If you get your hands on the buffer, I would experiment first with different speed settings (5-6), pressure, and length of time when working the product on the paint. While Ultimate Compound is a good product, it may be too much and you may not know if your paint is soft. Better to start off using the milder product. However, in the future as your paint ages and gathers some horrible scratches/swirls/oxidation, then you can give Ultimate Compound a shot.

Depends how they are used as well. I wouldnt plan for much defect removal if using Ult. Polish by hand.
