  • Aoi & Sg

I purchased the Klasse AOI & SG. I have used both. I can't hardly see the SG after it is applied. It really doesn't haze up very much. My question is: Does the SG really act as a protectant, the same as wax? Aslo, after I have applied the SG, is it a good idea to apply wax? Will the SG give as much shine as wax? I just would like to know more about what this SG stuff really is, & how it differs from car wax. Is it necessary to wash your car again, after you use clay on it?

This is a Meguiar's forum ... but anyway.
SG works fine applied thinly so you don't need to see it after applying. How are you applying it anyway?
I personally don't like SG that much. NXT works well on top of AIO and easier to use imo, but since you've already got it, nothing wrong with it.
SG will protect your paint, and do a good job of it too. You can apply multiple layers of it, like any pure sealant.
You can use wax on top of it, if you like. SG has a nice shine but topping it with #16 or #26 will make it look even better.
You don't have to wash your car after you clay it, but you should definitely wash before, or rinse it and then after using your car shampoo, use it again for clay lube before the final rinse.

Yes its very much like a wax or better yet a sealant. SG is acrylic based and the company claims longer durability than a polymer based sealant. So yes SG is as good as a wax as if affords protection for the paint.

Not necessarily. If you prefer the look of the sealant alone then you're all set. You could try a test panel and apply a pure wax with no cleaners to see if you like the look. No cleaners are important as the cleaners will remove some of the sealant.

One of the trade offs with using a sealant is you lose the warmth and depth associated with carnauba or even some polymer sealants. That's the price to pay for longer durability.

Some folks do, some don't. I don't rewash after claying I move on to my next step in the process.

      Good luck

        Klasse SG

Is it ok to apply Klasse SG after you have applied wax? Also, is the new Meguiar's NXT about the same as the Klasse AOI, & is it applied the same way?

SG over a wax will cause bonding issues thats why AIO should be used before SG to prep the surface.

NXT is a synthetic wax with ESPs and AIO is a polish/cleaner/protectant all in one so I'd say no they're not the same. Plus AIO is also acrylic based and NXT is polymer based.

I apply AIO as follows spread by hand on one panel let haze (1-2 minutes) then remove. The PC can be used but I haven't tried that yet.

            Klasse SG

Now that I have heard how good of a protectant the Klasse SG is, I would like to put several more coats of SG on my car. However, here is the process in order of what I have done to my car: clay, AOI, one coat SG, one coat Meguir's #26. Don't I need to take off the #29 before I put more SG coats on? Also, how do I take off just the wax & not the AOI, or SG?

I don't think iy quite works that way. You can't selectively remove on layer of something. The best approach would be layer the SGs as many as you want then top with #26.

              good luck

                Klasse SG

So what should I do, take everything off & start over? If so, how should I do this the best way, & will it really be worth it? Thanks, for all your help.

where are you at now (besides on the puter at home)? If only AIO and SG then add layers of SG then top with #26. If SG is topped with #26 you can a) remove and start over or b) wait a few weeks until the #26 has gone.

Depends on what you have done so far.

How would I remove only the #26? Is it really worth all the trouble to do so?

The AIO and SG should provide several months of protection. Not sure I would start all over right now. Why not wait it out til the mid to end of summer then start over? I don't think having 3 layers of SG will make it last any longer. I think the 3 layers hleps clarity and shine not sure though.

Its up to you and the time available. If it were me I'd wait.

#26 can't be removed without removing all the other products as far as I can tell.

That makes sense to me. Can I still put more layers of #26 on, & will it make it shine more? Also, I sure like your photo of the cute child with the glasses. Is that your son? I bet he already knows more than I do about detailing cars.

You can add layers of #26 as many times as you want. At least til you see no benefits of adding coats. There will be a point of no more improvment with waxing the paint.

No that's my little girl. I took that pic over 4th of July last year. And she loves to help daddy wash his truck with sand and dirty wash mits. Oh well you can lead them to water but...

                            Thanks again

Can I layer NXT over the #26, or can any kind of wax go over different waxes?
