  • Royally Confused....NXT 2.0 or UW??

I just purchased the 2.0 on Amazon for my detail job coming up when I receive a new DA. Does anybody think that UW is better for the job? I am looking for better detailing results obviously.

I was thinking maybe the UW is better on darker vehicles. My next detail job will be on a white vehicle that is always in a garage. I was wondering if I should buy the UW for my black truck that is always outside being exposed to the elements. Would I have better results with 2.0 on either vehicle? Also does anybody know if Ford's paint is hard or soft compared to other makes? Thanks!

Ultimate Wax and NXT 2.0 are both synthetic sealants, no natural waxes are used in either one, UW tends to be the more durable of the two whereas NXT seems to hold the edge in ease of use. Honestly, I wouldn't fret about your choice too much as both are proven performers, the finished look of the vehicle is going to be more contingent upon the prep work - wash, clay, polish. The UW or NXT is really only going to be a small part of the equation.

As far as paint hardness this is where a test spot is going to be your best friend. Tape off a section, review your work under light (preferably direct sun), and dial in your process before proceeding to the entire vehicle.

That is with any wax as well. I like multitude of Meguiar's waxes and prep work is the key. You can buy a $200.00 can of wax and if prep work isn't up to par, that won't help the final look.....

Thanks for the replies. I guess I will buy both products and see which one I like best.

I know several members here have mentioned NXT looks better on lighter colors whereas UW looks better on darker colors.....but then again, it's all opinions here.
great ideal to buy both and see for yourself.
I have ULW, GC paste & liquid, Colinite 845 & 476, on my white cars i can't really see much of a difference, I might have to test out on my dad's dark blue car to see any difference.

I really like UW Paste. Really easy to work with and is not as finicky as NXT 2.0 or UW liquid.

I just want to use the best product. Especially on my truck because it is always outside and is my daily driver.

Ultimate Wax will provide you with a more durable protection. If you wax your car often then it really doesn't matter as much.

I prefer NXT 2.0 on lighter colored cars especially metallics. I like ultimate wax on darker colored cars especially non metallics. For black, I really prefer ultimate wax. Check out this thread: Detailed: 2007 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 -Black. Ultimate Wax was used on that car as the LSP.

As other's have stated, "It's all in the prep!" I've used both on light and dark vehicles; either will give satisfactory results. UW won't stain the trim, so you could get by with minimal taping.

Funny you say that. My truck is a tuxedo black, which is metallic.

Ultimate wax paste, liquid seems to have a few streaking issues.
