  • Mother's Cleaner Wax???

My neighbor gave me a 3/4 bottle of Mother's Cleaner wax. I really hate to throw it out, so could I use it in place of my beloved ColorX and top with M16? The stuff must be similar to ColorX.
I might start to use it and hate the stuff anyway, but I thought I would ask.
    Thanks.

It's not bad stuff at all, very similar to Meguiar's Consumer Cleaner Wax.
Your idea of topping it with M16 seems very sound IMO.

As BillyJack points out, it's more like our basic Cleaner Wax than ColorX. So, while you can use it before M16 it may not do quite the same thing ColorX has been doing for you.

You can use it other stuff, aside from your car like for household items (like stove tops or stainless steel) . I like it, i do have a couple of mothers products too which go well with that cleaner wax. If you prefer megs cleaner waxes over the mothers, i'd contiue using the mothers and save the megs products for future use.

Well, I tried a little on my trunk this morning and while it seems ok, I think ColorX is better...real or imagined. Thanks for the replies.

In what way is ColorX better? i've never tried COlorX or cleaner wax. Does it hide/remove swirls better or is it easier to use or does it dust a lot less than mothers? I am really curious about it. I am willing to give ColorX a shot.

I said better...real or imagined. Since I have no swirls on the trunk, I really could not tell if Mother's would do what I KNOW ColorX can do. ColorX seems less "chalky", seems less dust than Mother's and seems easier to take off. Then again, the last time I used ColorX was last fall before the winter, so my memory might not be so sharp. IT wasn't a side by side comparison. I just like ColorX and I know what it can and cannot do. Try it, I think you will like it. I clay, ColorX and then M16

Oh, ok gotcha. Being less chalky to me already is an improvement to me. The big plus to me is the compatibility of ColorX to NXT 2 which i like a lot and still have. I haven't tried m16 yet, not sure as to its availability here in my place. I'm not too confident i'll ever get my hands on it, but nxt 2 is ok with me anyway.

I think the Mother's Cleaner Carnauba is a good product, it really leaves a nice gloss behind. It only lasts a few days though. It also doesn't clean as well as Meguiars.

mothers carnauba cleaner wax does have very good crisp shine, it's on the bright side. Doesn't last too long though and is a bit dusty even when applied thin. I always felt this way towards most cleaner waxes since they are a compromise between protection and cleaning.

The same goes for Meguiars cleaner wax. It's a bit dusty when removed. This is the way that most cleaner waxes seem to be.
My only complaint with the Megs cleaner wax is that bees fight me over it if I leave the can sitting open while waxing the car.

Thanks for thi info about megs cleaner wax. Was curious about how dusty it can get vs. mothers, I thought it was only mothers that is dusty.
