  • Grit Guard fitting in bucket...

I have a 5 gallon bucket and my Megs Grit Guard is not able to rest at the bottom of the bucket; it rests at about 2/3 the way down. Is that the way it is supposed to be? I was hoping it would sit at the bottom of the bucket and the label should fits most 3.5-5 gallon buckets.

    Thanks

Ideally at the bottom. If it lodges in pretty tight, you might be ok.

But some buckets have a slightly different shape.

Mine fit fine. Maybe trim the 4 straight parts that form the cross part? Or trim a ring off?

You sure it isn't a 3-gallon? Must be a special bucket... 5-gallon buckets normally come in a very standard form. Never had a problem in 5 years of use here.

Thanks for the replies. It is a 5 gallon for sure (at least thats what it says on the bucket, lol). I got it from Lowe's and it is a semi clear bucket and I couldnt find the grey buckets. I will try to get one from Home Depot b/c I was able to find other posts in which people said that works.

Also, I only have one grit guard for now so I should put it in the rinse water?

Perhaps take it with you to size the bucket.

I have the gray Lowe's bucket & the guard doesn't go all the way down into it either. Weird shape, more narrow at the bottom - like a funnel almost. But if you fill the bucket most of the way with water it works OK.

I have the same gray bucket from Lowe's and it is the only bucket of the 5 I have at home where the Grit Guard runs out of room several inches from the bottom. As the instructions say, it fits in "most" (not all) 5 gallon buckets.

I wonder why Lowes or who ever makes their buckets would make an odd sized bucket

I have got the Homer buckets from Home Depot and they work great

I remember taking my grit gaurd into lowes and try fitting it into their buckets. None took the grit gaurd.
Home Depot homers fit TIGHT. I had to use hot water to strech the bucket a little.
I forgot they made 3,5 gallon buckets, i need some of those.

I have two Home Depot 5 gal buckets purchased at the same time. My Grit guards fit in one and go two thirds down in the other. I use two thirds bucket for rinse since there's extra room at the bottom for the bad stuff.
