Hey guys, new to this forum. Great job megs btw. Anyway my black BMW has some deep scratches and stone chips in the paintwork and I'm just wondering as far as touch up paint goes would you wash, dry, clay, touch up, wet sand, UC, polish and wax or is there a better system to use? Also after UC is used would you wash n dry the car again? Like everyone on here I guess I'm a bit anal when it comes to my car but unfortunately I can't afford a respray at this time that's why I mention touch up paint. Advise greatly appreciated

Re: deep scratches
If you're going to do it yourself, then the order of the steps you mentioned is correct.
It's not easy to get a good result though. Are you sure they can't be corrected with a coumpound such as M105 / UC? Can you feel the scratches with your fingernail?Originally posted by BluelineI own a silver vehicle and a black vehicle owns me. The black one demands attention, washing, detailing, waxing and an occasional dinner out at a nice restaurant. The silver one demands nothing and it looks just fine. I think the black vehicle is taking advantage of me, and the silver car is more my style. We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

Re: deep scratches
If you apply touchup paint, don't apply wax for 90 days. that is what I gathered in a simiar thread I have. The steps you listed are exactly what I got too (sans waxing). There is an optional step to apply clearcoat after touchup (before sanding).
I am in the same boat as you.. I am buying the tools and stuff to work on it soon.
