  • A so-so waxing?

So I waxed my car for the first time tge other day. I applied I tried to but a thin coat, and I kinda did just dont think I was . Its wasnt heavy so thats not the issue. My question is if there is any negative affects of doing a so-so wax job. for example If I had put a really thinner coat, what affects can it show the paint, if any?

I first clayed, then used ultimate wax (2 applucations) with a foam hand applicator. All meguiar products of course.

Not really, esp with 2 applications.

Could you see the Ult. Wax residue?

No residue, I buffed it really good so there isn't any left over.

I mean that you could see a residue on the car to buff off.

UW spreads super thin. Seriously, I have a small vehicle, and my bottle of ULW is going to last a very long time.

Also two thin coats have always worked well in my experience to ensure I've covered the entirety of the paint.

Maybe just a tad bit of wax residue. In not really sure if it should show or not. What is visible is like a haze affect.
I'm hoping maybe it it's just causer the wax is thin to begin with lol

well, one disadvantage is that you may be wasting the wax especially if it's a "so-so" wax job. And it may not last as long as a complete step wax job

If you had a light haze everywhere, that sounds like it is pretty good.

And esp with 2 coats... the second should have spread even easier.

If you did two thin coats then you did what we've been recommending for years. Ultimate Wax does go on very thin but as long as you didn't just lightly brush the applicator against the paint instead of putting at least a little pressure on the pad, we can't imagine you don't have a proper coat of wax on the car.
