  • Windshield Washing Fluid and Wax

So God forbid I actually let my truck get dirty enough to use the windshield wiper fluid, but here's my situation.

I was changing out the brakes on my truck a couple weekends ago and the pads I bought came with a free gallon of Rain X Windshield Bug Remover Fluid. Topped off my windshield fluid reservoir, but now I'm wondering if this stuff will strip wax when it touches the paint? Any have any experience or knowledge on the subject?

I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.

    I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.
    Remove swirls my friends.

For the little I ever use my wipers, or even the sprayer itself, I have never seen negative effects. I did a quick search online and there does not seem to be an answer. It seems a lot of people say that it isn't aggressive enough to damage your wax. But how often do you actually use the sprayer? As long as your maintaining your wax protection I would think your fine. Just don't wash your truck with it!

I would say yes since its claiming it can remove bug guts.

Washer fluid has denatured alcohol in it for cleaning power and quick drying. What percentage, I don't know. You could always fill the reservoir up with some Detailer Line Glass Cleaner Concentrate, no? I don't see why it would hurt anything. Though, it'd depend what's in the concentrate.
