  • Deep Crystal Polish hand application only?

I like to use deep crystal polish before putting on ultimate wax. Is this polish meant for hand application only? the last time i applied it with a random orbit buffer with good results but dont want to take a chance again if it is not meant for machine application.

It would be fine with an orbital buffer.

why is deep crystal polish OK with an orbital buffer but yet it is advertised on meguiar's web site as hand only?

is it OK to apply deep crystal polish between waxing sessions say a month and half apart or is it a waste of time?

I am trying to keep the deep dark wet look.

In reality, almost any paint care product that can be applied by hand can also be applied with an orbital or DA buffer (rotary is a whole 'nother story!). The action of applying with an orbital is quite similar to hand application, but sometimes the availability of a proper bonnet is hard to come by. You want the least invasive application process possible when working with a pure polish like Deep Crystal Polish, M07, etc.

If you apply a pure polish as your last step it's not going to last very long at all. Pure polishes are designed to do one thing - add gloss. They offer no protection and are not designed for longevity on their own. If you want to apply a pure polish between waxings, we wouldn't expect you to get more than a couple weeks life out of it under the best of circumstances. Whether that's a waste of time or not is up to you. We suspect for most people it would be, and they'd rather go with something like Ultimate Quik Wax between full wax applications. UQW may not look the same as Deep Crystal Polish, but it will last longer and will also be easier to apply. It's a trade off that may or may not fit in with your goals.

Will the new Gold Class spray wax have a look closer to that of pure polishes like #7 or Deep Crystal Polish?

The new Gold Class Premium Quik Wax does a remarkable job of darkening the paint, definitely more so than even UQD or UQW. So in that regard, it's going to be closer to the look of a pure polish than those products, yes.

Good to know - looks like I'll be picking up a bottle to top-up my carnaubas

I will be applying this polish with a DA buffer for the first time, however I am unsure as to what pad to use. Since the polish contains no abrasives, should the pad have no cut, such as a pad for applying wax? Or is a pad designed for polishing sufficient?

                  Either would work ok...

Many would pick the finishing/waxing type pad.

A few people like a little firmer pad, like a mild polishing pad... just personal preference there.
