  • Curious about using the G110v2 in between "full" details

I was checking the site as I have gotten the G110v2 for Christmas. I have some pads coming in the mail and have not waxed one car with it yet. I have hand waxed for many years and enjoyed the "therapeutic" aspects of detailing as well as keeping my cars clean. I was wondering, once I do a full detail, is it a bad idea to apply JUST a coat of wax a month later instead of using a detail spray? Are there negatives in waxing often? Or, should I carry out the clay, polish, wax process every time?

In between waxing you can use Ultimate Detailer to get rid of any dust and follow up with Ultimate Quick wax. (spray on wipe off).Works great for me.

Hey Jazz! You're from Orefield. Small world. I went to Parkland.

So, as for your question, you're asking if once in a while if it will hurt to use your DA to apply another coat of wax, right?

I don't see the harm at all. Say if you clayed and corrected your paint a month or so before and you've been maintaining the finish with washes you should be absolutely fine. Before you wax, feel the paint to see if you have contamination on it that would require claying. If it does, just clay the surface before waxing it. Truthfully though, if you're maintaining the paint with regular washings you should just fine without the clay. I personally only need to clay once a year but that's because I park my car in a garage. Your situation may be different.

The most important thing is your personal preference. If you find waxing relaxing, then by all means do it as much as you want. It won't hurt your paint at all. I do mine every 1-2 months just because I like to

Honestly....ever since I bought myself a GG3 & GG6....and a tonne of 3", 4", 6" and 7" pads, I've been looking for opportunities to polish something or apply a coat of wax....I just cannot see myself waxing the entire car by hand, or even polishing the headlights by hand....maybe tight, hard to get at spots I'll do by hand....I just don't have time like I used to....I totally love my DAs

Nothing negative at all in waxing often - go for it. We would suggest that every time you wash and dry your car you evaluate the finish for both above surface bonded contaminants as well as below surface defects. If the paint feels rough, clay it. If not, don't. If you start to see some fine swirls or towel marks, buff them out when they get the point where you can't stand it any more (this threshold varies from person to person ) but if the paint looks good in strong light, no need to do the whole process. Waxing regularly (after a proper wash and dry, of course) is a great way to keep the paint protected and looking it's absolute best. You may find that six months after a full detail you want a little extra something out of the paint, so clay if needed and then go over it with M205 on a finishing pad to regain max gloss and clarity (even if you don't have any serious swirls or other defects) and then apply your favorite wax or sealant.

Keep the detail spray for those days between washes when you want to remove light dust or fingerprints from the paint. You don't really gain anything by just using a QD immediately after washing, other than to clean up those little water spots caused by water finally dripping out from behind trim pieces after you thought the car was dry.

I use my UQD/M135 after washing and drying the car and I find that it adds some gloss to the paint.

Sure, it will add a little, but it won't last terribly long since it doesn't leave a lot of anything behind. If you're looking for a quick gloss boost immediately after washing, and you'd like the gloss to last until your next wash, UQW/D156 are probably better choices.
