Would be interested to hear of good solution to cleaning the chrome tips on exhaust pipes you find on most modern cars. The black residue is really hard to remove and to make the tip shiny. Ideas? thanks
To start with mine were also black and loaded with tar and road junk. I used "000" steel wool and it's 100% improvement. Not much room to work on them.

x2.
Also I use autosol metal cleaner with the steel wool. Works a treat
I've found Never Dull (maybe nev'r'dul?) to work fantastic if your a fan of "least aggressive necessary". Has a hard time with beefier chunks of road tar and such, but leaves a wonderful shine and its very safe.
I use the SimiChrome Polish on mine. Been using it for years on the motorcycle chrome. Never looked back, always shiny.
Welcome to MOL!
Semi Chrome been around long time. I also used it and sold it in our Motorcycle shop back in early 70's. In this case since it's stainless and not plated material any light to medium abrasive will do. Less abrasive more shine.
Hi that's interesting- which degreaser product do you use?
Since most of the stainless steel exhausts are always loaded with road grime and tar one of the best way to clean it is using Orderless Mineral spirits which will dissolve tar.
