because the cars interior is going to be brand new it shouldnt really need much

Meguiar's Quick Detailer Interior is the fastest way to clean all interior surfaces. Use every time you wash or Quik Detail your paint to give your interior that just detailed look. In just 5 additional minutes, your entire interior will look sharp and smell fresh. Quickly and easily maintains the look and feel of interior plastics, vinyl, leather, rubber, metal and even audio/video equipment. The safe, high lubricity formula lifts off dust, ashes, dirt, grime, spills and fingerprints without build-up. And, unlike traditional protectants that leave an artificial greasy feeling, Meguiar's Quik Interior Detailer leaves your interior surfaces looking natural and revitalized.

then if you want a little more "glossy"
put on a coating of this
Maintain that like new look on dashboards, trim, tires and more. Meguiar's Natural Shine Vinyl & Rubber Protectant's complex formula includes mild cleaning agents that help remove daily dirt and grime and restore the original, natural finish. Includes UV blockers to help reduce the effects caused by the sun.

What do the dillusion ratios mean? What are the units?

There are no units for the ratio.

It is the same if you do 4 cups : 1 cup, 4 liters : 1 liter, 4 gallons : 1 gallon, etc.

                400 Water : 1 Soap.

The 1 will always be the product, at least with Meguiars.

What would be a good polish? #205? Ultimate Polish?

Re: Confused with products and steps. HELP!

Believe me, a full detail ie paint correction every three months is going to become monotonous and a waste of time and product. I tried to do that with my Vue but it was ridiculous. I end up doing everything maybe once or possibly twice a year with waxings in between. Follow the maintenance guidelines and you'll be just fine. Also, I'm guessing this will be a daily driver? If so, its bound to get marked up a little. Nothing can remain perfect unless you put it in a bubble.

Well I know it gets monotnous and I know that it wll get scratched and ill get acid bird droppings and industrial fallout and so on but I want to do everything I can and I will do a full detail every 3 months because I've been doing it on my dad's car for 3 years. I will be able to afford it and I'm a freak about it. Can anyone answer my polish question?

Re: Confused with products and steps. HELP!

Ult. Polish and #205 are pretty similar. THey have a little cleaning ability for dirt, etc, I wouldnt want them to remove defects.

You would have to do the math, #205 might be cheaper in bulk if you use a lot of it.

You should really look into something like a Cleaner/Wax or ColorX followed by Wax. That makes a quick 2-step detail that gives great results.

I know that polishes have little to know dirt/defect removal so I'm gonna use either swirlx or ultimate compound before then I'm gonna polish then wax. Even if ult. Polish and 205 are simalar has anyone tried both to tell me what works better.

You'll be repeating yourself doing that. SwriX and #205/Ult. Polish are both mild cleaner/polishes. If you wanted to follow up SwirlX with something, I would consider looking at a pure polish like #7 or DC Polish. You'll get more of the oils that way.

If you take proper care of the vehicle, scratching should be very, very minimal. Industrial fallout, if removed regularly, isn't that big of an issue either. Take a look at this article from a few years back for some ideas on keeping a car looking good between detail sessions, even for a prolonged period of time. That's my daily driver, and I just recently went over it with M205 on a finishing pad via rotary to remove a few light defects that had shown up over time. But that article is from spring 2008, so my recent once over with the rotary and M205 was 3 1/2 years after that detail session! Sure, it had been clayed since and waxed numerous times, but there wasn't any need to go at it with an abrasive product in all that time. Every time I wash and dry the car, and every time I wipe it down (which is almost daily) I inspect the finish closely as I go. You should do the same as there's nothing much to gain in doing a full detail if the car doesn't need it, no matter how long it's been. And there is a potential downside to "correcting" regularly, especially when it's not absolutely necessary.

While it's true that a "pure polish" like M07 or Deep Crystal Polish has zero defect removing ability, that's not true of "cleaner polishes" like M205, M80, Ultimate Polish, etc. Now, we stated earlier that you really can't devise a plan far ahead of time without knowing how the car reacts to input or what it really needs. So if you take the care of the car properly as outlined above, odds are you just won't need Ultimate Compound every three months, and that's a good thing. If you do have light defects, M205 could end up being your best friend as it can remove light defects and at the same time add a lot of clarity to a healthy clear coat, especially on metallic paints. Comparing M205 to Ultimate Polish, although quite similar, M205 will offer more cut while UP offers more polishing oils. That means UP may be a bit more effective at hiding some defects while M205 will do more for improving clarity. There are markets for both, but for an individual to use both on the same car is a bit redundant.

How often do you clay? How often do you wax? How often do you wash? Your almost daily wipe down is with a 'quick detailer' spray? I know it will vary with weather and car conditions but I'm trying to get a rough schedule for my new Honda CR-Z (white). Also, is there any consensus on what works (carnauba, synthetic; liquid, paste) with white paint (or off-white 'pearl')?
