New GMC Sierra

I just purchased a brand new GMC Sierra and noticed several surface scratches on the top bed rail. After revewing the site, I believe I am to use Scratch X 2.0 to remove the scratches? Does this sound correct? In addition, I have not washed the truck and need to get started on the right track. Should I first wash the truck, use the Scratch X for the scratches, use a polish on the entire truck, and then wax? If so, which products should I buy? Thanks for you help.

I would go with something like......

1) wash
2) clay with smooth surface clay kit
3) hit tough scratches with ultimate compound and if desired, use it or something like ultimate polish on the rest of the truck
4) wax with your wax of choice ( nxt 2.0, ultimate wax, gold class, etc.)

That should work out for you.

Thank you for the info. I am kind of weary about using a compound on a new truck. It really must be different than a rubbing compound that I used a million years ago and screwed up the entire car. I am very old school if you know what I mean. Is it safe from stupidity?

Well, its pretty similar to ScratchX 2.0 that you were planning anyway.

Just be sure to have a good applicator, like one of the smooth foam ones.

OK, I am going to wash, dry, clay, Ultimate polish, and wax. Is Hi-Tech Yellow Wax OK to use on my dark truck or should I use Ultimate liquid wax?

You can shine it up with the Ult Polish for now, then come back with the Ult. Compound later to work on things when you have time.

The wax is just up to you, everyone has a favorite. It will certainly look good.
