  • Old car detailing!!!

    Hello all
I have been detailing a friends car lately, a mazda mx5 2007, and another friend came and saw it!!!! ....The result of the mazda was really nice and he asked me to take care of his car as well.....the thing is that his car is an old VW golf such as this one .....My question is, do I work on this car just like the mazda, or is there any specific treatment for??? Do I use the same buffs, compounds and technique???

      The steps where,
1: Use of a clay bar with M34 final inspection
2: use of M85 with a wool pad
      3: use of M83 with W85
      4: use of M07 with W92
5: use of M26 wax by hand

I would do a test spot or two, working from least aggressive combo to most aggressive combo. This let you know what steps will provide the best result on the Mk2 Golf. The products you are using top of the line and should perform the job.

Another thing I'd like to ask is, what is the alternative way to measure the clear coat and how would I know about the clear coat I've cut??? .....Do we know by any means, how much clear coat is on a cars paint??? and how much it decreases after using a compound?

Yeah, I wouldnt go in assuming you need #85 and a wool pad. That is a pretty agressive step.

As far as measuring, you would have to buy a paint thickness gauge. Not as familiar with them myself.

I would first start out with using the least aggressive products.
