  • Do you wax...

after a good rain? After all does not rain falling down to the earth collect pollutants on the way down that ultimately end up landing on your cars finish, not to mention all the **** on our roads being flung at our cars finish going down the highway surely is not friendly... and most likely strips our cars waxed finish!

    Re: Do you wax...

Not enough hours in the day or days in the week to wax my daily driver each time it rains. Now a quick wash followed by drying using Ultimate Quik Wax, that's possible. I have an expectation the wax I use will hold up to some rain. Now driving down interstate in a driving rain, perhaps no so much.

There are some folks who just do a no rinse wash too following a rain.

      Re: Do you wax...

After Ultimate Wax, my car is still beading water very strongly after several months. I don't think it's necessary to run out and wash your car and rewax it everytime it rains. That seems like too much time, and a lot of wasted wax!

Nah. I may wash it when the weekend comes but I feel my once a month waxing/sealing is overkill already. Use UQW or something to boost the protection if you want but I think you're only wasting product and money by doing it every time it rains.

Absolutely correct. It is in a sense, a sacrificial layer.

OP: Your wax (assuming it is a quality product) will surely last far longer than one rain. However it is important to wash your car regularly, as the rain will etch through your wax and onto your finish. I wax monthly. On top of waxing monthly, I wash weekly and apply UQW after drying the car. I believe applying UQW when the car is wet, does not do this product justice. Some may believe my system is overkill. I believe it works perfectly.

That sounds like my regime, just I wax about every 6-8 weeks and wash about once a week or once every other week when I can. I should probably disclose that my car is constantly garaged when it can be so that helps my durability as well.
