  • RainX

The durability of RainX probably depends on a number of variables.

In general, how often do you apply RainX?

    Re: RainX

I'd say I do 2 month-ish, with UQW for regular washes in between.

I really like Rain X makes a huge difference. They make a really nice windshield washer fluid it's orange deices and debugs and an additive that help to add rain x to Your windshield. May I also recommend buying the Rain X Latitude windshield wipers. Worth the extra money.

I live in the bay area of California. we don't have to much rain and no snow where I live. I apply rain-x once or twice a year. I only need it for the winter months. I tend to replace windshield wiper blades once a year, maybe twice. the rain-x wiper blades aren't to bad. I was happy with the Latitude ones, last a good 5-6months.

          Only 5-6 months?

I use MB OE wipers and they last much longer than this. My car is 7 years old and I think I changed 3 wiper blades so far. We have moderate amounts of rain and snow in Toronto.

            Re: RainX

I tend to reapply RainX every two months (or every other wax application), but in reality, I can get away with more like 4-6 months without significant degradation in the product's performance.

Wipers can vary a lot from person to person, such as how people use them, to when they think they are worn out.

Thats true. With wipers I expect perfect vision when I use them. I want clarity. I don't want to cause an accident cause something is blurry. Maybe its the California sun that dries out the blades and makes them brittle and crack so they don't wipe off all the water. after six months its usable, but not very clear. Its a safety issue for me. After using Rain-x and new wiper blades I don't ever want to go back. Its like upgrading to HID headlights, I will never go back to stock incandescent bulbs.

I applied RainX to my wife van the other day.....she said the rain was dancing on her windshield and blew off.
I find treating the windshields with rainX really help the wiper blades last longer and work better.
In rainy Vancouver, it's a big test for any wiper blade.....the blades on my MPV van are over a yr old and work like new

I used RainX once and did not like it. I did not like the blurry it left at night.
I now use Aquapel and now I am happy. I applied it in May and it still work like the day I applied it.

For me, it's strictly "break, then fix". I will use the wiper as long as it clears the water on the windshield.
I use the same wipers in rain and snow and these OE wipers last more than 2 years.

I do wipe down the wiper blades everytime I wash my car with car soap.

I am in agreement with PursuitSE in that I prefer Aquapel to Rain-X. Where I live Rain-X lasts around 2 months and Aquapel is still good to about 6 months. I just did two of our personal vehicles within the last week.

I went into AutoZone the other day to get the Latitudes. After looking and talking to an employe he said get Bosch Icon hands down. He said he has had his for years. They're totally silent too. During the car wash Sat. as I was sitting in the car and turned then on to to see how they worked? Perfect! I am sure they are both great... I love the new way they connect, they're one piece and hook on securely, no more skeleton looking hooks and they are silent .
