No it's never too soon. You can use your Ultimate Compound to remove your paint's swirls and defects. I think it can even be used on fresh paint (just not in the body shop). Sealants are the ones you have to be cautious of. Also, usually the paint of brand new cars are already baked out of the factory so anything can be done on brand new cars.
Often people worry about how soon/often they can use a compound, like only use a compound once in a cars life, otherwise you'll make the paint too thin, and that sort of thing.
I have a black 2011 jeep wrangler and its nearing a year old. Is it too soon to use ult compound to get out minor scratches and swirls?
I also have to get deep water spots out.
So to go with the above, yeah, you can use Ult. Compound anytime it is needed.
The key would be that if you need to use Ult. Compound every few months, then something would appear to be wrong with your washing, or other care for the paint. Or if you had to park in an area that caused that kind of damage, you just wont be able to keep perfect.
But using UC once a year in the spring for instance would be ok. And then a milder cleaner for details in between.
As far as removing swirls/scratches/water marks... that can be hard by hand, but no reason not to give it a shot. Just work on a small area at a time, dont try for the whole thing in one day.
murr is right on. UC is hard to remove swirls by hand unless you RUB hard and maybe a few trys.
i did my year old truck and it worked very good and paint is very smooth to my hand.
i had some scratchs that UC did not even make dent in them BUT they are not noticeable and no use in pushing my luck .
clearcoats are hard as rock on my chevy truck.
i think to get swirls and scratchs out you have to use buffer.
i never used one so only my opinion, i do things by hand and get very good results but its hard on your body to do it .
like said,WORK ON VERY SMALL SPOT IF YOU ARE DOING IT BY HAND .
