  • long lasting sealants

So i've been looking at some detailers and they advertise sealant protections that last from 3 to 4 months (which i know thats the average time for a sealant) but then they go and say another sealant that last close to a year. Which one would that be. Is there a list of sealants that last longer than others? Thanks for your help

    Re: long lasting sealants

People and companies make many claims, which, when come under scrutiny, do not last nearly as long as claimed. I tied NuFinish (not a sealer, but just an example) which is supposed to last a year. and through 52 car washes. As a side by side test on my trunk (and to prove something to a neighbor) it didn't last as long as M16, no where near a year, and I certainly did not wash my car 52 times. I am sure everyone will be happy to offer their opinions, but your own experience with a product will be the test.

Really just depends how and what the car is exposed to. Thats something you need to think about before buying into what any company say or claims about their product.

A quality paint sealant (not coating) applied to a daily driven vehicle being garaged every now & then, will be just about gone after 6 months IMO. Or at the least many attributes of the product.

From what I hear Colonite 845 is ONE of the longest lasting.

I have seen over and over that WolfGang Deep Gloss is one of the best. I have yet to try it.

I used NXT and it was pretty good...I want to try Ultimate "WAX" (I hate that name, call it a sealant that works like wax)

                        Re: long lasting sealants

Wolfgang can apparently last up to 6 months with maintenance. It is a nice sealant and very easy to use but it is also pricey. I think the sealant you are hearing about that can last a year is Klasse.

Honestly though, how often are you waxing/sealing? If it's 3-4 times a year then something like Klasse really isn't necessary. I would go with Ultimate Paste Wax. You can find it for about $20 at Walmart and it will last months.

I wouldn't be drawn too much by the supposedly long protection provided by the klasse twins. OK, so it gives this incredibly reflective shine but its a pain to use especially the sealant. The difference in durability may not be as big as one may think or experience.
