All those detailers that offer mobile service, what does your equipment consist of? Do you guys have your own generator? Own water? What if the city you are detailing does not allow water run off? Who uses waterless products?

I generally use the client's power & water. Nobody has had a problem with that yet and if they did knock $3-$4 off the bill (more than enough)

But, it would be more ideal and a little more professional to have a nice water and power setup.

I have been offering my mobile detailing services here in Orange County for over 25 years. Over the years I have had to adapt to ever changing demands from property owners, landlords and city enforcement when it comes to waste water discharge. Both of my mobile rigs are completely outfiited and self contained, I carry everything from Generators, Pressure washers, 100 gallon R/O water tanks and even Vacuum Berms. But lately with the availabilty of newer products that allow rinselss services to be performed which provide superb results, this has created a change in the industry. I have also outfitted my rigs with Detailing Caddy's....these units combined with your choice of rinseless products allow you to provide a service that is accepted and delivers. Using the system allows you to atomize a rinselss product on a detailing project.....Car, boat, bike or plane and clean it in a fashion in which no waste water hits the ground. With this system I can clean between 8-10 vehicles with a 5 gallon premix and very little or if no water hits the ground.

Here are a few pics of us working in a location where waste water discharge is completely prohibited......

Your choice of rinseless or waterless product is used............With this method being used more often, many variations of this type of product is available. Instead of using a pump sprayer this is used to atomize the product on the surface to then encapsulate the dirt and debris for safer removal.

Surfaces are wiped down using a soft MF towel, always maintaining a wet one and a dry one.

Using a bucket with the rinseless product and water mixed to wring out your wet and dirty towel, remove contaminants and extend the use of your towel.

Hope this helps you understand the process a bit better....I find that having a rinseless option will many times will get you a "Red Carpet" rolled out for you to provide your services.

                  David,
Wow that is really great thinking. I've seen that type of equipment. Its just a pump powered by some laptop batteries and it works wonders because you do not have all that water run off and it makes your work look really professional and unique. i was wondering in buying that machine, maybe i will. The noise of the generators running really gets on peoples nerves so that becomes a factor too. At the moment i use waterless product, works really good, the thing there's times where the vehicle needs a pre-wash to loosen up the heavy dirt but then the whole water run off thing comes in. But we have to learn to adapt to survive right.
Thank you for sharing that with us though nice job and good luck with everything.
