  • New Car Paint

I went to Mercedes dealership today and I finally saw the new C-Coupes. In general, the car loos great.

Then I noticed a C350 coupe there with a new color, they called Magno. Looks kind of strange, it's black but matte black. No shine at all !!!

I wonder how to maintain/detail this car.

There is not much you can do for matte paint.

Cant clean, polish or wax it.

      Re: New Car Paint

I did some research and below is from an article in Car and Driver:

"The SL63 AMG IWC Edition will be the first car with Mercedes’ “magno” paint. It is not glossy, but rather has a matte, somewhat satin-like finish with stunning depth. Just don’t scratch it because you can’t polish it. Paint repair requires a respray and color-matching is a major challenge. That may explain why Mercedes has hesitated to bring this complex paint to market—after all, we first saw magno-painted prototypes almost two years ago...".

This new paint, surely, is special but maybe I am old-fashion, I'm not sure if I like it.

Is it supposed to be a maintenance free finish besides washing?

I don't get the appeal of matte paints...

We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

Maintenace free or impossible to maintain?

If you cannot wax, how do you protect your car against the environments?
If you cannot polish, how do you correct the paint (fine scratches, blemishes...)?

I wonder if there is clear coat on these cars.
